✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
General Roberto Fierro Villalobos International Airport (CUU) is the main gateway to Chihuahua City and the surrounding state, located about 13 km northeast of downtown. Named after Chihuahua-born aviation pioneer General Roberto Fierro Villalobos, it handles domestic and international flights with a modern terminal and runway infrastructure. It is a key airport for northern Mexico travel, offering connections to major Mexican cities and select U.S. destinations.
💡 Local Tip
Because Chihuahua sits at about 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) elevation, the air is dry and UV strong year-round—bring water and sunscreen even on short trips. Also, the airport can get busy on Sunday evenings and Monday mornings, so arrive early for departures.
🚖 Getting There
The most convenient options are official taxis, ride-hailing apps like Uber and DiDi, and rental cars; taxis are available outside the arrivals area. Allow 20–30 minutes to reach downtown Chihuahua, and more during rush hour. If using ride-hailing, follow signs to the designated pickup zone to avoid confusion with taxi drivers.
