✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV/TKPN) is the main airport on Nevis, located near Newcastle roughly 10–15 minutes by road from Charlestown. Named for a former Nevis premier, it operates a single runway and a compact terminal serving regional flights from Caribbean hubs such as Antigua, St. Maarten, and San Juan. Its small-island scale and views of Nevis Peak make it a low-stress alternative to St. Kitts’ larger Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
💡 Local Tip
Ask for a window seat on the left when arriving from the north—the approach often gives great views of Nevis Peak and the coast—and keep small US dollar bills or Eastern Caribbean dollars handy for taxi fares, since card acceptance is limited outside larger hotels.
🚖 Getting There
Taxis are usually waiting at the terminal and are the easiest way to reach Charlestown, Pinney’s Beach, or island hotels; agree on the fare before departing. Rental cars can be booked through local agencies, but drive on the left and watch for narrow roads. If you are coming from St. Kitts, take the passenger ferry to Charlestown and then a taxi to NEV, as there is no direct airport ferry.
