✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
Hastings Airport (HGS/GFHA) is a small airfield serving Freetown, Sierra Leone, located near the town of Hastings about 20 km southeast of the city center. It historically handled regional and domestic services and now primarily supports small aircraft, charters, and general aviation. It is not Freetown’s main international gateway; that role belongs to Freetown International Airport (FNA) at Lungi.
💡 Local Tip
Confirm your return taxi or driver’s contact before you fly out—Hastings is a small field, and rides may not be waiting on arrival, especially later in the day or in heavy rain.
🚖 Getting There
Hastings Airport is on the mainland, so access is by road from Freetown via the Peninsula Highway or Waterloo road, typically 30–60 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis and private cars are the most reliable options; agree on the fare before departure and carry cash in leones. If you are connecting to Lungi International Airport, allow extra time because that requires a separate road and ferry or water-taxi transfer.
