✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
Muan International Airport (MWX) opened in 2007 to replace Mokpo Airport, serving South Korea's southwestern region. Located in Muan County, South Jeolla Province, it is uniquely integrated with a KTX high-speed rail station, offering seamless connections to Mokpo, Gwangju, and Seoul. The airport primarily handles domestic flights to Jeju and Gimpo, along with a growing number of international routes to China, Japan, and Taiwan.
💡 Local Tip
Because the airport is rarely crowded, you can arrive just 1 hour before domestic departures and 2 hours for international. Also, the KTX station is connected by a covered walkway, so you can avoid the weather entirely when transferring.
🚖 Getting There
The KTX from Muan Airport Station is the best option for reaching Mokpo (15 min), Gwangju (40 min), or Seoul (2.5 hrs). The station is a short covered walk from the terminal, so you don't need a taxi. For local destinations, city buses and taxis are available outside arrivals.
