✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
San Sebastián Airport (EAS/LESO), also known as Hondarribia Airport, is a small regional airport in Spain's Basque Country, located in Hondarribia about 20 km from San Sebastián and just a few kilometres from the French border. Opened in the mid-1950s, it has a single terminal and a short runway set between Txingudi Bay and the Pyrenees foothills. It mainly handles domestic flights, with seasonal links to Madrid and Barcelona, and is valued for its quick, low-stress passenger experience.
💡 Local Tip
If you're heading to France, consider taking a taxi to Hendaye station rather than going into San Sebastián first - it's only a short ride and can connect you to TGV/TER trains toward Biarritz, Bayonne, and beyond.
🚖 Getting There
The airport is best reached by car via the AP-8/N-I, with signs for Hondarribia and the airport; short-term parking and rental car desks are at the terminal. Public bus line E21 links the airport with Hondarribia, Irun, and San Sebastián, but frequency is limited, so check timetables in advance. Taxis are available outside arrivals and take roughly 20-25 minutes to central San Sebastián, or about 15 minutes to Hendaye in France.
