✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
Kherson International Airport (KHE/UKOH) is a medium-sized airport serving Kherson in southern Ukraine, located near Chornobayivka about 15 km northwest of the city center. It opened in the Soviet era and later handled domestic and seasonal international flights, including service to Kyiv and Moscow before 2014. Since the 2022 Russian invasion, the airport has been closed to civil traffic and reportedly damaged, so it is not currently operational for passenger flights.
💡 Local Tip
A frequent-visitor tip: the airport is in Chornobayivka, not Kherson proper, so when giving directions or booking a taxi, specify 'Kherson Airport' or the coordinates 46.676, 32.506—not just 'Kherson'—to avoid being dropped at the city center.
🚖 Getting There
When civil flights resume, taxis and pre-booked transfers are the most reliable way to reach central Kherson, since the airport is outside the city and public transport is limited. The drive takes about 20–30 minutes; agree on a fare or use a ride-hailing app before leaving the terminal. Currently, with all flights suspended, travelers should use Kherson's rail and bus connections instead.
