✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is a medium-hub commercial airport in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, about three miles northeast of Allentown and within easy reach of Bethlehem and Easton. Originally opened in the 1930s as Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport, it is owned by the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority and serves the greater Lehigh Valley with Allegiant, American, Delta, and United flights. Its compact single-terminal layout, two runways, and proximity to I-78 and US-22 make it a convenient alternative to Philadelphia and Newark.
💡 Local Tip
Frequent visitors use the free cell phone waiting lot off Airport Road rather than circling the terminal; it's only a couple of minutes from baggage claim when your passenger is ready.
🚖 Getting There
ABE sits just off PA-987 and is easily reached from I-78, US-22, and PA-33; downtown Allentown is about 10 minutes away. Rental cars are available in the terminal, and taxis/rideshare pick up outside baggage claim. LANTA bus service and hotel shuttles provide car-free options, but frequencies can be limited on weekends.
