✨ AI-Enhanced Insights
Rach Gia Airport (VKG) is a domestic airport serving Rach Gia, the capital of Kien Giang Province in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Located just a few kilometers from the city center, it primarily handles flights to Ho Chi Minh City and has historically served as a regional airfield and gateway to the Gulf of Thailand islands. Its compact terminal and modest runway make it a convenient but small facility for travelers heading to or from the Kien Giang coast.
💡 Local Tip
Frequent visitors know that Rach Gia’s rainy-season weather can cause afternoon flight delays, so book morning departures when possible and leave at least 2–3 hours between your flight arrival and any ferry departure to Phu Quoc.
🚖 Getting There
Rach Gia Airport is close to the city, so a metered taxi or ride-hailing car is usually the fastest and most comfortable option. Agree on the fare or ensure the meter is used; a typical ride to central Rach Gia takes 15–20 minutes. If you are heading to Phu Quoc or other islands, continue by taxi to Rach Gia ferry terminal rather than expecting an airport-to-ferry shuttle.
